A Long Walk to Water

A Long Walk to Water, written by Linda Sue Park, is based on the true story of Salva Dut. This story is told through the point of view of two African children, Salva and Nya, and the struggles they had to go through to get water. Salva’s story is told from 1985-2009, while Nya’s story is told from 2008-2009. Their lives will cross paths, but what will the outcome be? Read this wonderful novel to find out! Here is Ricky's book trailer on A Long Walk to Water.

Out of My Mind Book Trailer

Out of My Mind was a book that I read last summer, and I absolutely loved it. The theme of this book reminded me so much of the book Wonder that this class read in 4th grade.  I knew that it was the perfect fit for this round of lit circles.  The group that read this book had such wonderful discussions, and they all felt a connection with Melody, our protagonist and the situations she was experiencing.  Be sure to read this fabulous book and watch our book trailer by Emily, Leah, and Sophie.

Bud, Not Buddy Trailer

Bud, Not Buddy is also a special book to me.  This used to be one of my favorite read alouds when I discussed historical fiction until I decided to use it during literature circles.  I love the way Christopher Paul Curtis writes and describes Buddy's adventures as he travels to find his father.  This novel was also a Newbery Award Winner in 2000.  Christopher Paul Curtis writes about what he knows; he grew up in Flint, Michigan, where this novel takes place.  He is also the author of The Watons Go to Birmingham-1963 which received a Newbery Honor, and The Mighty Miss Malone.
Enjoy the book trailer from Bud, Not Buddy by Isaac, Addison, and Brennen.

The War with Grandpa Book Trailer

The War with Grandpa holds a special place in my heart as it was the first novel I ever taught when I started teaching almost 13 years ago.   The boys who read the book during literature circles enjoyed the novel as much as I did all the years ago.  Enjoy the book trailer of The War with Grandpa from Owen and Nick, and Jack and Grant!

I Movies- Book Trailers

We have been working hard on our book trailers the past few weeks. We have been using imovie to complete these, and I have been so impressed! The groups have been working very hard on mastering imovie and have been working together wonderfully! I am so proud of the work ethic this class has displayed, as well as their willingness to help each other out. Enjoy our book trailers!

I will be adding a new trailer (hopefully) each day:) Check back often!

iMovie Book Trailers

We are working hard on our iMovie book trailers over our latest literature circle books. First, this round of books have been a huge hit with our class. I have never heard so many enthusiastic comments about books! The discussions that our teams had over their reading was unreal! I was so proud!
I have added a view pictures of our teams working hard to create their book trailers over their novels. When our book trailers are complete, I will load them and share the link!

Creativity at work!
